As defined by section 230102 of the Congressional Charter The purpose of this corporation shall be fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable and educational; to preserve and strengthen comradeship among its members; to assist worthy comrades; to perpetuate the memory and history of our dead, and to assist their widows and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America, and fidelity to its Constitution and laws; to foster true patriotism; to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom; and to preserve and defend the United States from all her enemies, whomsoever.
Our Post was chartered on June 19, 1947. Along with our Auxiliary we are involved in many projects and activities that provide services to our local community, youth and veterans. As you browse the pages of this site you will see an array of services that we provide.
We have a very diverse group of veterans and are very proud of them all.

Floyd E. Breedlove was born in Katy, Texas, to J. Edson and Ethel Breedlove in January 1917. His father, Edson, worked as a mechanic at a garage in town. Edson passed away in 1929, leaving his mother, Ethel, to raise Floyd and his sister, Olive. They lived and grew up in what is now considered "Old Katy” and attended public schools, with Floyd graduating from Katy High School in 1934.
VFW Post 9182 meetings are held at the post on the first Monday of the month. If a holiday falls on that day, the meeting will be held on Tuesday. You can keep up to date by assessing our Calendar and Command Year Meeting Schedule found on

The VFW traces its roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service: Many arrived, home, wounded or sick, and were left to care for themselves.

Our museum has memorabilia that dates from the American Revolution to most recent war on terrorism. We currently have 2 rooms filled, to the brim, with many finds and contributions, including a
submarine klaxon.

Although the internet has reduced the use of libraries, by school students, we have a library that offers a wide selection of books and videos that center on the wars the U.S.A. has been involved in and they are available for use by everyone.
