Katy (and the greater West Houston area) is a great place to live and work. We partner closely with the community to provide support in many areas and events, showing the populace we are Veterans, and we are Katy proud.
As part of the community, we feel it is important to show our support through volunteerism benefiting the environment, education, civic projects and other initiatives. Our Veterans are an important part of the community, and we provide services for them in a variety of ways.
Each year our post provides support to the community in a variety of ways. In a one-year time period we have provided 3,260-man hours for a total of over 14,243 miles and $79,967.80 donated/used.
Each year we celebrate with a Live and Silent Auction along with a lunch. This is an activity that the folks of Katy always look forward to. It provides many with great opportunities to obtain great items at a great price and is a major source of revenue for the post.
Each year the VFW distributes the Buddy Poppy over Memorial Day Weekend, Veteran’s Day and at other community programs and events.
Future leaders, educators, white color, blue color. Whatever a young person defines as his or her future, they will be making the decisions for our country and the world. We must provide the corner stones for them now. Working alongside America’s youth and instilling a sense of patriotism has always been — and will always be — a VFW priority.
Our Post, along with members of American Legion Post 164, have an outstanding group of volunteers who participate in our Honor Guard. Every eligible veteran deserves basic military funeral honors, including the folding and presentation of the flag, a 21 Gun Salute and the playing of Taps.
Not only do we perform funeral services, but we also perform Flag Ceremonies and Flag Etiquette training. Local businesses, organizations and schools are among those who request our services.
We support the community in a variety of ways. During the year the city of Katy holds a number of activities that we participate in, to include festivals, parades and a rodeo.
Veteran support is our primary reason for existing. The Post and Auxiliary are involved in numerous projects and activities.
